Intent

For every pupil to have a deep understanding of numeracy preparing them for the challenges of the twenty-first century.

Curriculum

Liverpool Counts Quality Mark for Numeracy
Lord Derby Academy are proud to be taking part in the Liverpool Counts Quality Mark for Numeracy programme.
The aims of the quality mark are:

  • To raise the profile of Numeracy
  • To change the culture of thinking around Numeracy
  • To make real-life connections with Numeracy
  • To understand how numeracy can affect life choices
  • To connect with other subjects
  • To share and celebrate the enjoyment of Numeracy


During Key Stage 3, pupils follow a bespoke curriculum which is designed to ensure fluency in all aspects of Numeracy while also developing problem solving skills. The curriculum is designed to allow pupils to investigate how Numeracy is linked to real-life concepts.

During Key Stage 4, pupils are encouraged to build on the problem solving skills they have developed in Key Stage 3. The programme of study for Extra Maths at Key Stage 4 has been developed to allow pupils to build links between the different areas of the Mathematics curriculum.
