Overview

Year 10
In Year 10, pupils study a wide range of physical activities including: team and individual games; fitness; other competitive activities.  Within each activity, Year 10 pupils will focus on improving their skills as well as their knowledge of tactics and rules.  Year 10 pupils will also study ‘healthy living’.  This will increase their existing understanding of the long-term benefits of physical activity as well as their knowledge regarding a variety of lifestyle issues.  In addition, Year 10 pupils will study a module about careers in the sport and exercise industry.  Our aim is to increase pupils understanding of the variety of jobs available within this sector as well as providing information about resources available for pupils, should they wish to take their interest further.  They are also encouraged to get involved in PE extra-curricular activities, both in and out of school.  Our aim is for all pupils to have the confidence, skills and knowledge so that they are able to take responsibility for their own lifelong participation in sport and exercise.

Year 11
In Year 11, pupils study a range of physical activities including: team and individual games; fitness; other competitive activities.  Within each activity, Year 11 pupils will continue to focus on improving their skills as well as their knowledge of tactics and rules.  They are also encouraged, where possible, to get involved in PE extra-curricular activities, both in and out of school.  Our goal is for all pupils to engage in physical activity for sustained periods of time and for them to build upon the confidence, skills and knowledge that they have accrued and continue to take responsibility for their own lifelong participation in sport and exercise.
